Julia Koutroulis

Growing up in New Orleans, I was inspired by the artists in the French Quarter and dreamed of being one, too. I took group lessons for a few years in high school and even had the opportunity to paint in Jackson Square. Although time passed and life took a different direction, I never forgot that dream. After my husband passed away unexpectedly from alcoholism, I started painting again. My uncle, Aris Koutroulis, a successful artist in New York, became a new source of inspiration and encouragement. When he passed away on the same day I got my first award, I knew I had to keep painting and continue the Koutroulis legacy. My favorite subject has always been people, and children in particular, but my paintings strive to capture more than just a likeness. I look for what is unique and try to reflect that very essence or emotion. My play of light against dark is an expression of what is hidden coming to light. In many ways, the paintings are a reflection of who I am. I have been accepted into multiple juried exhibitions and have won several awards. I am an active member of the Visual Arts Alliance in addition to serving on the board.

Mandy Yates

Mandy Yates is a Conroe-based artist, specializing in custom memorials and functional mosaics made of stained glass and concrete. A question she’s often faced with is “How did you get into this?” and that’s not a simple or short answer.  Although the simple answer would be this is what she has been guided and called to do. Since 2017, she has been perfecting her craft and shipping her custom memorials all over the country. She is extremely passionate about her job and comforting others through her artwork. She also likes to focus on combining functionality and art, whether it be a bench, a bird bath, or a stepping stone…her art is made to live on, hopefully beyond her, and continue to serve others and make the world just a little brighter.

Mary Wilks

Mary Wilks graduated from the University of Houston with a BFA in Painting/Drawing, cum laude. She has been married for 39 years and has three grown children and one grandson.  Besides painting and illustration and writing, Mary loves to garden and create mosaic garden statues.

Melissa Osburg

Melissa Osburg is a self-taught abstract mixed media artist from the Big Easy, New Orleans, Louisiana; currently, residing in the Lone Star state. Melissa’s work is hand-painted, unique and emotionally driven. In 2016, Melissa began painting as a type of art therapy. It was her own personal experience with anxiety that has led her to painting abstracts, and now with a twist of Mixed Media. Abstracts, because it’s a visual language that does not depict one thing from another. It is truly based on what you see. Your Imagination! Painting has opened a light for Melissa to express how she feels emotionally and share joy with others in the process. Melissa primarily paints with acrylics and oil; but has experimented with watercolor, resin & oil pastels. All of her artwork is signed and sealed with a gloss varnish.
