The Atrium Center has partnered with KultureCity to make the facility and all of its programs and events to be sensory-inclusive. This new initiative promotes an accommodating and positive experience for all guests and fans with sensory issues. Sensory sensitivities or challenges with sensory regulation are often experienced by individuals with autism, dementia, PTSD and other similar conditions
The Atrium Center will be the first venue in Montgomery County to have a certified venue, and in the greater Houston area, it joins NRG Park, the Toyota Center, PNC Stadium, and Brain Balance of Katy sensory-inclusive venues.
KultureCity is a leading nonprofit recognized nationwide for using its resources to revolutionize and effect change in the community for those with sensory needs, not just those with autism. Its sensory-inclusive venues include 1,000 across six countries, including special events such as the Super Bowl, World Series, and more.
To become certified, the Atrium Center’s staff trained with leading medical professionals to recognize those guests with sensory needs and how to handle a sensory overload situation. Sensory bags equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap pads will also be available to anyone who may feel overwhelmed by the environment.
To borrow a sensory bag while visiting the Atrium Center, use the QR below and text “KC.” One of our venue managers will assist you shortly.
